Connect, Grow and Learn Together

At Little Linguists, we believe that education is about more than just the material. Jessica understands the importance of creating strong and long lasting relationships with her students as well as fostering student to student bonds.  She strives to motivate and inspire her students to do their best both inside and outside the classroom.

Our in-person classes provide students with the structure, motivation, creativity, support, modeling, personalization, camaraderie and feedback they need, while also being fun and engaging. With in-person classes, students can focus and get the help they need from their teacher in real-time, making learning more effective. Using a variety of proven approaches and multiple techniques, we are helping students say goodbye to virtual learning and hello to a motivating, engaging and successful environment.

Let Us Take This One Off Your Plate

Let's face it...as a homeschool teacher, tackling a subject area such as Spanish can be overwhelming, time-consuming, and expensive.

Have you ever worried about:

  1. Finding the time to learn Spanish in order to teach it?

  2. Which curriculum would be right for your (child)ren and having the time to sift through them all?

  3. How to actually teach the concepts and skills with the correct pronunciation?

  4. Having the proper and enough supplemental materials, authentic resources, manipulatives and practice activities?

  5. Sticking your child(ren) in front of a screen for online lessons?

Expertise is Key

Fluency in the Spanish language, cultural awareness of the Spanish-speaking world, and expertise in second language methodology/instructional techniques are all essential components of student success.

With these unique and highly specialized skills, Jessica creates a dynamic and engaging learning environment that fosters language acquisition and cultural understanding. With an undergraduate degree in Spanish and a Master's degree in Curriculum and Education, you can trust that your students are in good hands.

What we provide:

Curriculum

Little Linguists uses an evidence-based curriculum that incorporates total physical response storytelling. This method has been shown to be highly effective in engaging children and securing their learning goals. By using contextualized, illustrated stories to introduce words and phrases, children are able to connect with the material on a deeper level and retain information leading to language acquisition.

Manipulatives & Supplemental Activities

Reaching beyond the curriculum, we use a wide variety of hands on materials to enhance speaking an listening skills. Our collection includes (but is not limited to) puppets, dice, dominoes, game boards, costumes, bingo cards, stuffed animals, play food and kitchen items, balloons, colored math cubes, pattern blocks, clothing items and art supplies. We have a treasure trove of resources and materials that inspire and foster learning.

Authentic materials

Through her travels throughout the Spanish speaking world, Jessica has gathered an abundance of authentic materials such as maps, toys, pamphlets, clothing, recipes, pictures, post cards, greeting cards, artwork, souvenirs and children's books. Authentic materials play a crucial role in understanding and appreciating the diverse cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. By engaging with these resources, learners develop a connection to the language and its cultural context. This exposure not only enhances language skills but also fosters global citizens who are more aware and appreciative of cultural differences.

Practice Activities

Using the aforementioned materials, our students do not sit around in their desks!  We practice our Spanish skills by moving our bodies, clapping our hands, stomping our feet, singing songs, dancing, playing games, role playing, building, drawing, creating art, and most importantly having fun while effortlessly learning.

Learn, Grow & Thrive: Classes by Age

Our classes are age appropriate and tailored to the instructional needs of elementary students. We use the same curriculum, techniques and approaches with all age groups to ensure continuity of instruction, but differentiate practice activities to meet the specific educational needs of the various age groups. Our approach emphasizes listening comprehension and speaking skills, and are designed to foster relationships and connections to ensure that each student is successful.

Elementary Classes

Kindergarten-2nd Grade

For our youngest learners, we believe the best way to learn a language is to mimic the way we learned our first language. We introduce age appropriate, everyday words and phrases. Through repetition, the use props, pictures, songs, physical gestures, stories and manipulatives, our students naturally acquire the Spanish language. We don't emphasize reading, writing, or grammar rules, instead we encourage our students to organically learn the language at their own pace.

Elementary Classes

3rd-5th Grade

With our upper elementary students, we use the same approaches and techniques as we do with our youngest learners, however we differentiate the lessons to make them age and ability appropriate. Keeping the emphasis on listening and speaking skills, we also introduce sight words, short phrases and stories and connect them to visual aides and illustrations. Our goal is to create a fun and inviting learning environment that allows our students to develop their language skills without being bogged down by grammar rules.
